History

Founded in 1930, the Independent Insurance Agents Association of Greater Oklahoma City has a proud and well-documented history—complete with preserved meeting minutes dating back to 1934. While the organization has evolved over the decades, its dedication to professional development and community service has remained constant.

In its early years, membership was limited to independent insurance agents. As the association grew, members recognized the value of collaborating with insurance company partners, leading to the introduction of an associate membership category for underwriters, marketing professionals, and other key industry representatives.

Throughout its history, IIAA of Greater Oklahoma City has also written insurance policies for select organizations, using the resulting commissions to fund meaningful philanthropic initiatives. These efforts have supported first responder training and equipment, provided scholarships for students pursuing insurance-related degrees, and strengthened community partnerships. In recent years, the association has expanded its impact further by adding hands-on service events that bring members together while giving back to the community.
